Q4 Ride: Cameron Highlands & Ipoh 5-7 Nov Part I
When was the last time that u did something for the first time?.. 1200kms clocked
Day 1
It was the first of many overseas ride for me AKA chaos the newest Coyote brother along with seasoned veterans, gambit, flash and transformer. We met at esso gelangpatah and set off for our ride up to Cameron highlands. 2 dynas 1 softail and a GS tearing through traffic till rain hamperedOur safety but not our spirit. The winding road up Cameron was one for a true biker. But because of the rain and blind corners we had to take a slow ride up. It wasn't all bad as at that pace we could enjoy the beautiful scenery that Cameron had to offer. The waterfall where our brother silverback left his mark was accompanied with hot goreng pisang, keropok leko and cempedak goreng was awesome at that cold weather. As it was getting dark we had to cut short our rest and proceed to our hotel where all four of us shared a huge room at rm270 with 1queen sized bed and 2single bed. Enough for the four of us. Steamboat dinner and massage for the night and we decided to call the night.
Day 2
We woke up to a perfect weather the next day. Suit up and started our engine with a roar which caught the attention of the Cameron highlands inhabitants. We pushed off to a nearby stall and helped ourselves with fresh strawberries before heading off to the tea plantation.
It was a narrow and rocky roads but then again the beautiful tea plantation with mist in the morning sun was a sight that made the treacherous condition bearable and kept us going without forgetting the winding road downwards which all four of us couldn't wait for.
Freshly brewed tea and strawberry muffin was a deadly concoction which we had at the top of the plantation would have made us stayed there for longer than planned. It was a packed cafeteria with more serene sceneries and cooling weather, a reprieve for any Singaporean from the hustle and bustle of our everyday city life.
After those scrumptious bites, came our favorite part. The downslope winding roads. We were averaging at 100km/h down the slopes, bending and some even scrapping their foot pegs. Till we reach our last bend, where disaster struck. Chippy(Gambit's ride), couldn't move all of a sudden.
Chippy was the last bike, mine was the third while flash and transformer were way in front. As I turned passed the bend I couldn't see gambit on my rear view mirror. Our rule of thumb is we never left anyone alone. With that in mind I decided to turn back. Rode up to see gambit having difficulty to make the bike move. Fearing the worst, gambit and I tried to figure out what had happened. The engine was still roaring, gear was engaging, belt was moving with the axle but wheels were not moving. Upon closer look, we could see that the nuts securing the axle to the rim had given way. With tool not by our side, we tried to call for transformer and flash but to no avail as signal was bad. Gambit and i did not panic as we knew that they would realize that we are not there and They would be coming back for us.
Within 15 mins they were back. Transformer was holding on to the tools, and he was the most experienced mechanic among us.
Did some temporary measures so that chippy could roll slowly to lone wolf's(street coyotes' honorary member) house at Ipoh.
