Hat Yai Video

Thailand got Ape. I was searching but couldn't figure out bike make. Single cylinder, custom paintjob and probably 18" ape

It was pouring one night and I stopped over for a bowl of bean curd that cost 15 baht. Biker Build Off Thailand, suicide style

I had so much to eat and probably put on a couple of kilos. Spare the blog of its length so I better not post everything I had, please see slides for the mouth watering food.

I took 9 hrs from GP Esso to Sadao Border and the way back 8.5 hrs Sadao Border to GP Esso. For a start I think I had more stops on the way up. Anyway I could have shaved half an hour or so on the back trip if not for these screw ups....

1) I was very fearful to ride on the motorcycle lane at the 1st KLIA exit (which Gambit and I did on our fearsome twosome trip) so I refused to acknowledge the word "Johor Bahru...KLIA...etc" and turn right into Kuala Lumpur. FYI, any toll after an exit is always a tell tale sign "Wrong way mate!". Thank goodness I remembered someone told me before to follow the signs that say "Seremban", which eventually brought me back to the NS highway.

2) The rain was pouring very heavily after NS highway exit towards TUAS and I was already very tired from long hours of ride. My mind kinda switched off when I saw the GP R&R 5KM sign so I delightfully followed the cars in front and exited. After a series of turns I then realised I was on the wrong road! I looked ahead and all the cars had Malaysian number plates. Kept my cool and rode on in desparate search for a U-turn ahead untill I saw the motorcycle lane. (My bike loves motorcyle lanes, not me!) Not wanting to travel on that tiny path for possibly kilometers, I made an illegal U-turn, went against the traffic and rode on the shoulder.

The road led me back to a Y junction where I couldn't switch on my mind to think which side I could have probably came from. Made a guess and took the right (for correct). Hey I was back and gladly push on towards GP R&R. There was no Shell petrol station and I'd thought that place looked damn familiar, I was there 6 days ago! WTF heading towards Thailand direction again. Ok totally shagged and disheartened, I went to seek directions from a Malaysia cub biker, uncle said "wow I think you need to travel another 10 km to make a U-Turn back to Tuas. FO, I went back against the traffic AGAIN and finally back to where I wanted. Silly me and what a way to end my joyful adventure!

Disclaimers : Not only riding alone you won't have someone to watch over your back but also no one will watch your front to tell you your head light blew. I wouldn't know if I had lights all the way cos I only rode in the day and I only realised the light was gone when I got back home @ 730pm. Now I know why the fella didn't give way to me!

All in all I think this was a wonderful trip and great experience, something I've always wanted and now I stand tall to say I've done it! Thank God for my safety, bike was in tip top condition and exhaust sounds better with less carbon now :)

So when are we ready for another trip? Wooohooo!

Happy New Year - Hatyai

Greetings from Hatyai & Happy New Year 2011!

Last night Hatyai central was filled with people with live band on the streets, similar to sgp "gor tai". Atmosphere was fantastic as young and old waited to usher the new year.

I flagged a tuk tuk and headed down to Paragon and it was just as crowded. Surprisingly 3 guys sat in front of my table are from Sgp too and we had many drinks and fun. It was an eye opener not only because the music was ear piercing but also the different types of people I see there. A fight broke out minutes after count down, a grandpa dancing techno and a drunkard in singlet.

I hope you guys had fun too. The weather is very hot today, hope it holds tml and I stay dry home :)
